How to Backup Wordpress

Worried about losing data?Losing data can be nightmare to anybody. how if you blog was popular and suddenly lost all data i.e blog post or SQL data. Now you don’t. Here we have 10 step to backup your blog. * As usual click image to better visuality*

Following is a step-by-step complete with screen shot on how to backup your blog. Of course first thing to do is login into you administrator control panel (cPanel). What is cPanel? try demo here.

01. On you cpanel home, click Backup.

02. Next screen will appear. Up to you which type of backup you want to perform.
Tips: If you active posting everyday then you may backup daily otherwise select the other option like weekly or monthlywordpress_backup2.gif

In this example i like to backup full. the reason i do this is because, recently i lost all my blog hosted with blogger.com and i don’t want it happen twice(i will write about this soon) beside i never performed full backup. So click on Generate/Download a Full Backup.

03. Next screen appear. Just save it into default location. Note that the file automatically zipped.

i. Screen if you choose daily backup

Enter you credentials and click generate backup, others leave it blank. Home directory will be your root directory on your server, email where you want information to sent(after backup finished). Not like daily backup(download available instantly), full backup take longer depend on you file size(a whole blog post)

05. Full Backup process take place. You may click [Go Back]. Don’t worry backup process are keep go on.wordpress_backup5.gif

i. After backup finished, email notification will sent to you mail box(which you enter in image 4 above). You may download it immediately or soon.

06. Next, go to your cPanel home directory and you will see backup file was successful save in your directory. You next step is to download it into your PC and don’t forget to make copies to CD/DVD (before too late).

07. How to download your backup file that you just created a moment ago? You cannot download it directly from you home/root directory. So go back to first step, choose backup and click Download a Home Directory Backup as shown below.wordpress_backup7.gif

08. Downloading you backup file from server directory into your PC

09. Basically you backup process finished at step 07. Next screen is to restore you file just in case something bad happen with your wordpress blog or server. Browse where you store the backup file and click upload and viola! you get you post back.wordpress_backup9.gif

10. There is no step 10. Congratulation you should happy now. Backup made easy.
